Given the president's campaign rhetoric, Saudi Arabia seems an odd choice for his first foreign visit. But the kingdom plans a warm welcome and has invited leaders from many other Muslim countries.

The U.S. has been supporting Saudi Arabia's bombing campaign in Yemen for more than a year. An airstrike that killed at least 140 people at a funeral has renewed a debate about U.S. involvement.

The legislation allows families of victims of the Sept. 11 attacks to sue the Saudi Arabian government. The override is the first of Obama's presidency.
