Being the Change: James Shields on Community, Slavery, and the Power of Education

James Shields is the Director of the Bonner Center for Community Service and Learning at Guilford College. He's also an actor and an expert on the history of the Underground Railroad in Greensboro. Radio Camper Ethan Campbell-Brown learned more about James Shields and his work.

I met James Shields on the patio of Founders Hall at Guilford College. He was very nice and had a voice perfect for a radio interview. We talked about the concept of slavery and his work. We also talked about Pathways to Freedom, a play he's currently acting in. 

Helping Guilford College Grow in Environmental Sustainability: Dave Petree

Dave Petree is the Director of Environmental Sustainability at Guilford College. He has worked at the college for 20 years. Dave started out as a campus caretaker for the grounds but was promoted to Director of Environmental Sustainability. As Director, he has new ideas for Guilford College. Dave sat down with WFDD Radio Camper Josie Patch to talk about his career.

Guest Artist, Cello Soloist Lynn Harrell to Play with Eastern Music Festival This Weekend

The 52nd annual Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro continues through this weekend with a tremendous concluding concert by world renowned cello soloist Lynn Harrell. On Saturday night, July 27, at 8:00pm on the campus of Guilford College, EMF Music Director Gerard Schwarz will lead his friend, and the Festival Orchestra in a performance of Antonín Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B minor.
